Hydro stepped off the boat and flattened down his hair where it had blown in the wind. It was getting pretty long now, and he hoped Rachel would like it. He was looking forward to seeing her again, after his holiday. He took a deep breath; he could smell the Kyak air, and was glad to be back. He was getting hungry, and decided to sit on a nearby grass verge to eat, before going to the Psychic lab.
While away he had had time to think, he decided to take Rachel and go for a trip around the islands. There was no particular reason for this, he just thought it would be romantic to have some time together. Of course, he wouldn't object to anyone else coming along if they wanted to!
He watched Murkrow in the sky, as she slowly drifted down towards him. She had become accustomed to flying everywhere, and now refused to go in a pokéball. Hydro looked at the four other pokéballs on his belt, and decided he'd let them out too, after the long boat trip. He detached the four balls and threw them on the grass. He was used to seeing Nidoqueen and Grovyle, but he had not yet quite become used to seeing his two new pokémon; a Bayleef and a Charmeleon.
While on holiday, he had been (rather immaturely) making sand castles on the beach, when a rather annoying Charmander came and knocked them over with it's tail. He used Venusaur's vines to restrain the Charmander, but Venusaur had accidently made Charmander faint. Hydro had thought "What the hell!" and caught it. And while he was at the bar one night, he spotted a Bayleef amongst the palm trees. He let Tropius out, and Tropius befriended it. Hydro had approached Bayleef and got Charmander to attack it with fire until it was weak. He had then caught it, but decided to send Tropius and Venusaur back to Prof. Cinders, as he then had 4 grass types in his party.
The next day he had got into a dispute with a man at the bar, and they had a battle, which caused Charmander to evolve.
As he thought of the captures, he had not noticed the small purple pokémon that had nabbed the sandwich from his hand. "Oi!" he shouted as he ran after the theif.
"Murkrow! Get it!"
Murkrow let out a shreik, and attracked the Rattata brutally, as ever overprotective of Hydro.
"Oh my... Murkrow! It's nearly dead! I didn't mean for you to kill it!"
He returned Charmeleon, Bayleef, Grovyle and Nidoqueen to their pokéballs, grabbed the Rattata and started to run towards Prof. Cinders' lab.
As he ran through the automatic doors, he could feel the coldness of the lab. "Frankie! Hazel! Professor!" he called. No one seemed to hear him, so he grabbed an empty pokéball from Hazel's desk and threw it at the Rattata. The weak pokémon didn't even struggle, and Hydro quickly put the ball into the healing machine in the corner. He pressed a button and listened to the catchy jingle.
When the pokémon was healed, he took the ball and attached it to his belt. "Meh" he said to himself, "A pokémon's a pokémon!"
