Ziarre woke at dawn and watched the sun rise. The beautiful orange sky made Ziarre wish she could be out there, flying. The wind on her face and the fresh morning air in her lungs. Quickly Ziarre dressed and skipped down for an early breakfast. After tackling a few moving staircases Ziarre made it down to the Great Hall which she entered with caution, trying not to draw attention like she had done the previous night. Sitting herself down next to some of the other first year Griffindors Ziarre helped herself to some porridge and honey. As soon as Ziarre had lifted her spoon Professor Clearwater was standing beside her "Here's your timetable" she said and proceeded to the other Griffindors, handing out their timetables. Quickly Ziarre scanned her timetable for Care of Magical Creatures. When she couldn't find it she turned to the professor. "Do we not have Care of Magical Creatures lessons this year?" she asked anxiously "I'm afraid not. They only come in the third year." the professor answered. oh well.... At least I have Kira and..... oh no her thought were interrupted by a small word catching her eye. FLYING. She read it over and over but it only seemed worse when she read it. Another small piece of paper landed beside her bowl. "FLYING LESSONS ALL AFTERNOON TODAY". The nightmare was getting closer. Calming herself slightly Ziarre picked up her spoon again and started to eat her porridge. I'll think about it later she thought.
When Ziarre had finished her porridge screeches filled the hall and wings flapped though the open windows. The post was here. The vast number of birds filling the hall amazed Ziarre but her attention was drawn to a smaller and much faster bird, Kira. The Peregrine falcon quickly found Ziarre with it's sharp eye and dived down to her, landing neatly on the girl's outstretched arm. Softly Ziarre stroked the bird's head. "Did you deliver it?" she asked softly. A soft cry reassured Ziarre that it had arrived safely. Again she affectionately stroked her head before looking around at those near to her.

Kohana, who had now made it down to breakfast saw her own barn owl, she spotted Tsubasa circling the Griffindor table and went to sit next to Ziarre, "Thanks Tsubasa," Kohana said and poured out some water into a saucer and placed it in front of her owl, "Let's see, ah, well, that's not what I expected, I'll check that out later." Kohana slipped the letter into her bag just showing the japanese symbols on the paper which meant 'is terribly sick...'
"Ah, yes, Miss Shimane." Professor Clearwater said coming up behind Kohana, "Yes, here's your timetable, and yes, you do have defence against the dark arts today, I hope you enjoy your day."
Kohana scanned her timetable, saw the flying lessons and nearly jumped out of her seat, "Great, I wonder if they'll let me use my own broom."

OOC: Um, well, she kinda doesn't if that's ok. Rosie and I did the timetables and until we find a way to get them up: Griffindor: Charms, break, Herbology (with Hufflepuff), lunch, double Flying lesson for all first-years. Ravenclaw: Charms, break, Transfiguration (with Slytherin), lunch, double Flying Slytherin: I know my timetable Hufflepuff: There aren't any! SCANDAL! Unless we auto them all. BIC: Arienne watched the slight commotion on the other side of the hall and sighed softly. She didn't have any pets - most animals jumped out of their skins when they came near her - apart from a foot-long Engorgio-ed wolf spider and her beautiful baby Arizona coral snake. She'd had to keep Lupus at home, as he kept trying to eat Malachi, whom she'd smuggled into her dormitory under her robes the previous night. She smirked at Ziarre's terrified face and glanced at her own memo. Time to make my own name, she thought to herself, and abandoning her toast she strode out of the Great Hall to the History Classroom. From what she'd heard, the next hour would be one of the slowest in her life.

Since it was still quite early and Ziarre didn't have her Charms or Herbology, or her bag for that matter, she watched Kira fly out of the high windows at an immense speed and walked casually out of the Great Hall and back up to her dorm. Quickly grabbing her bag and stuffing "One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi" by Phyllida Spore and "The Standard Book of Spells Grade One" by Miranda Goshawk she took one last look out of the window and slowly walked down staircase after staircase to the charms classroom. She thought hard about that afternoon I think I should go and see Professor Clearwater this lunch.... or maybe now.... "You look thoughtful" one of the paintings commented as Ziarre walked past. She smiled back at the concerned woman and walked on, still in deep thought.

OOC: Sorry guys - especially Rosie, who probably wants to kill me for saying I'd reply yesterday night ^^; - this just isn't a really good time for me to reply to this topic. I'm currently in a "crunch" period and the stress of my work is basically killing all of my inspiration for this RP. Sorry again, but I probably won't be able to get up a decent reply for another few days. You can continue on regardless - I'll just catch up.
Yeah... figured I'd say something. Toodles!

OOC: I am thinking about revising! And if you hadn't noticed (and you probably have), I'm replying. Shock! Horror! Happy Rosie!
BIC: Ed groaned as he rolled around on his bed, still asleep. The covers had fallen onto the floor in the middle fo the night, and although the night had been warm, Ed was shivering volently. An arm reached through the curtains surrounding his bed, and tapped him on the shoulder. The necromancer grabbed it, sitting up abruptly and trying to grab his knife - which wasn't under his pillow, which was where it always was at home. Finding nothing, he looked more closely at the arm, and pulled the unfortunate roommate through the curtains. 'Never do that again,' he muttered sleepily, and let go of the arm. 'Sorry,' he added, and swung himself out of bed. The boy eyed him suspiciously, before walking over to grab some books from the chest at the end of his bed.
'Breakfast ended a few minutes ago. You might want to wash, get dressed and everything,' said the boy before sweeping out of the room, almost falling down the stairs in his haste to get to Charms. Ed glared after him, cast a spell to summon water to wash him quickly and jumped to the end of his bed. He threw some clothes on in the middle of a small raincloud, messed his hair up and grabbed his books. Leaping down the stairs four at a time, he rushed to Charms... But he had no idea why he knew he was going there. He guessed the ghosts had told him over the night.
He burst into the classroom, following some more Ravenclaws there. Entering the classroom just in time, he sat at an empty desk, waiting for the teacher to notice him, or anyone else for that matter.

OOC: This is gonna be bland. Just wanna move things a long.
BIC:
Dwyn entered the Great Hall for breakfast just as Ziarre was leaving, shrugging and continuing on towards the Griffindor table and taking a seat near the end. She noticed a some of the other 1st years chatting away but chose not to speak up, instead pondering what the day would have in store for her. I wonder if anything like what happened yesterday will happen today...? she thought with a slight chill, remembering the odd experience she'd had the night before.
Suddenly a voice piped up behind her, "Good morning, Miss Williams!" which made Dwyn jerk around and yelp.
"Yes?!" When her eyes fell unto the slightly perplexed face of Professor Clearwater, though, the girl sighed with relief and added, "Sorry, Professor... Was there something you wanted?"
"Here's your time table," the woman replied, handing Dwyn a piece of paper. As the girl began to skim the contents the Prof. continued on, "Try not to let Hogwarts overwhelm you. Everything will seem clearer in time."
"Oh?" Dwyn looked back up to the woman a bit taken by the comment. “Oh no, it wasn’t school I was…” She stopped and realized that explaining her experiences from the night before probably wasn’t a good idea. They’d either think she was losing it and ship her home or start monitoring her, neither being a very pleasant thought. Instead she said, “I’m just a bit homesick. Hogwarts looks like a very nice school and I’m happy to be here.”
“It has its charms,” the Professor smiled in return
“There is one thing, though,” Dwyn started to say. “Where can I send a letter to my parents?”
“That would be at the Owlry. I’m sure one of the other students would be more than happy to show you the way.”
“Oh… Well, thank you.”
At that the Professor left and Dwyn turned back to the table to skim her timetable once more. Charms… That sounds like a good place to start. Looks like all of my classes take place with the other Griffindor first years, sometimes even the other houses. That means Ziarre and Kohana will be there. She was glad a few familiar faces would be nearby. Those two girls were really the only students she’d interacted with since arriving. Guess I’ll just eat a quick breakfast and run back up to get my books. Hopefully I’ll run into someone along the way who’ll point me in the direction of the classes.
OOC: I totally forget Clearwater’s personality. I‘m not even sure if she‘s female or not, just going by what Rosie wrote x.x Please take pity on me if any of my descriptions are off for whatever reason. Just explain the mistakes and I’ll edit my posts. I may have read books 1-5 but I’m not good with recalling details like that.
Oh, and the end of my post is leaving Dwyn open to autoing. At this point I basically just want her to get to class so we can finally start it. Someone else better direct the actual teaching part of it.

The class entered the room and took their seats. The three girls, Ziarre, Kohana and Dwyn sat next to each other, Ziarre in the middle and right in front of Ed. Professor Weasley, a bright red haired, thinnish woman, swept into the room with a smile. "Hello. My name is Professor Weasley and I'll be teaching you charms. Today we will be studying the techniques used when employing 'Wingardium Leviosa', which we will learn next lesson. If you would please take out your wands we will go over the movement needed for the levitating spell." There was a shuffling as students reached into their bags and pockets to pull out their wands. Only Ziarre sat still.

Ed glared at the gryffindors in front of him, and was going to say something - when a discrete knock on the door interrupted him. Professor Weasley looked up, and said clearly, 'Come in, Professor Clearwater.' The door swung open, and the professor bustled in towards Ed.
'I didn't see you at breakfast, Venard. Here's your timetable - oh, and sorry for interrupting your class, Professor.' THe two smiled at each other, then Professor Clearwater walked out, closing the door behind her. Ed had gone slightly red; the whole class was looking at him. Karys chose that moment to run into the door, then open it, blushing a deep red. 'Sorry I'm late, professor! The staircases are confusing, and I didn't know where anything was,' she blurted, and threw her books and quill next to Ed, who had sunk down in his seat, trying not to be noticed.

After the interuptions the class proceeded as planned, Dwyn quietly mimicking the wand movements of the Professor over and over again. This is pretty basic but it's good practice. The real test will be what happens next class when I try out the actual incantation... she thought, the image of a levitating object suddenly zipping through the air to slam the Prof. in the face. It made her cringe and murmur, "Oiii..."
The girl then looked over at Ziarre, who was sitting still with a slightly nervous look on her face, and couldn't help but whisper, "What's wrong, Ziarre? Don't you have a wand, too?"

Ed flicked his wand idly, already knowing the simple movements for the starter charm. He'd known it for years now, since his father had started teaching him. Smiling, he flicked the wand a bit too firmly, and managed to levitate Karys's skirt by some... coincidence... Ed grinned as she pinned it down to the chair with her free hand after almost dropping her wand. Smiling weakly at him, the girl blushed and looked away, copying the professor carefully. He watched the gryffindors in front of him, especially Ziarre. She seemed to not be doing anything, which wasn't surprising, due to her lack of a wand. He eyed the girl talking to her, trying to remember her name... Dwyn, wasn't it? And the obvious Japanese-American. They all fitted in Gryffindor perfectly, but Ed didn't belong in Ravenclaw. Sure, he'd hate to be in SLytherin, but he belonged there, didn't he? Thinking about this, he started idly ripping his jumper with his thumb so he had something that felt vaguely like his necromancer's glove he'd left at home.

Ziarre sat, perfectly still, wondering when someone was going to notice that she wasn't taking part in the exercise. She knew very well that a simple levitating charm was one that she could do in her sleep and that she need not even use a special movement with her wrist to do so. is the whole hour going to be on this movement because I may as well leave Ziarre thought, but being interrupted by Dwyn. Thinking on her feet, but not being able to come up with a good enough excuse, Ziarre answered the truth. "No, I haven't. Should I just practice the movement anyway?" she asked, trying to follow the movement. Looking around for the first time she saw Ed, but quickly turned back to the front, not wanting to draw attention from the boy who had obviously been watching her ever since she entered the hall the previous evening. She concentrated hard on the task again, but being a quick learner soon mastered it and became bored. The end of the lesson came and Professor Weasley dismissed them on time, with homework to practice the movement. Ziarre packed away her books, trying not to look behind her, or catch Ed's eye.

Kohana, who was now extremly bored got out her want after watching everyone attempting the spell movements, "'Wingardium Leviosa" she said, and raised her quill up to the ceiling, "Like this professor?" she said and lent back in her seat playing with the hovering quill.

OOC: Hannah, the lesson's finished now BIC: Ed glared at Ziarre as she left, and followed her out. They had half an hour of break, and he intended to follow her everywhere she went. Karys watched him leave in disappointment, and met up with some other Ravenclaw girls. Ed shrugged the guilt out of his mind, and settled into his usual stance: a slow stroll, keeping naturally to the shadows. No one noticed the tall boy walk past anyway; they were too busy pointing at the "ickle firsties" and giggling, or in some cases, guffawing. Most of this was directed at Ziarre's small group of friends. However, unknown to all but Ed, the necromancer had a small, thin, curved knife at the bottom of his trouserleg, ready to use if it came to that. He would force the truth out of Ziarre if he had to kill her to do it.

Ziarre sauntered outside and into the warm September sun. The leaves on some of the trees were beginning to turn a beautiful orange. Slowly she wandered over to the large Lake and gazed at the reflections in the surface. Stepping slightly more towards the water she peered into it. "When will I show my true form?" she muttered, half to herself and half to the lake itself. Then suddenly sensing someone behind her she spun around, "Oh!" she exclaimed when she found herself looking into Ed's eyes.

Ed raised an eyebrow, and smiled. 'True form. Hm. I know what you are, Ziarre. You can't escape me. And I'm quite sure the teachers don't want murder on their hands,' he stated, his voice gaining power as he spoke. The wind picked up, and the boy's eyes flashed red again. 'Trust me. You don't want any enemies.' He offered his hand. Hopefully, this would give the full effect: surprising Ziarre to the appropriate extent. He didn't want to kill her, he just needed a few friends.

"What do you want?" Ziarre asked nervously. She didn't know what to think. Was this true friendship or fake. In him she saw a green heart, one of a Slytherin. Surely he should be in Slytherin she thought There must be a good reason why he's in Ravenclaw. The sorting hat must have its reasons. Patiently but curiously she waited for an answer, but kept alert at the same time.

Ed waited for a few more seconds, then withdrew his hand. He kept eye contact, but had trouble restraining the tear fighting to emerge. 'Fine,' he said. 'If you don't want my friendship, I might as well go. I won't tell anyone your secret, I promise. Cross my heart and hope to... die.' He looked away with this last word, gazing out across the lake. The tear finally began its journey down his cheek, forming a pale salty path on his face, glistening like an old sword wound. His statement meant more than the child's promise to him as it did to all necromancers - they all feared death, scared of those they had killed to keep themselves alive... or at least on the Earth's surface.
Ed turned away from the Gryffindor, and started walking back to the main building, wiping the tear away. The salty path remained, leaving its mark on his features as a reminder of his sorrow.

"No, wait!" Ziarre called after him, running to catch up. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I was just being a bit cautious. I don't know why." She extended her hand now. "Friends?" she asked questioningly, wondering if he would accept now.

OOC: Man, Ed sure knows how to make friends BIC: Dwyn paused at the doors as she watched Ziarre continue on outside, turning away and starting back towards the Great Hall. She barely even noticed the boy walk past her and head outside as well, thoughts of locating the Owlry before next class consuming her mind. I wonder which way it is? Dwyn thought, coming to a stop in front of the main staircases and gazing from one to the other. Suddenly a voice called out her name and Dwyn looked down the hallway to find a rather tall, red-haired girl staring back at her. (OOC: Nobody described Erin yet, eh?) "Oh... Hi! ... Erin was it?" Dwyn replied nervously. She'd seen the girl around the Gryffindor common room and sitting at the main table but had never actually spoken with her before. "That's right! Erin Weasley. And you're Dwyn Williams, right?" the girl replied as she approached Dwyn. She held out her hand and added, "We haven't been properly introduced yet." "Sorry... That's probably my fault," Dwyn replied as she gave the girl's hand a shake. "Don't worry about it! There's been a lot to take in so far," Erin smiled. Her short hair styled inward around her face really helped to bring out her smile and freckles. "So... You looked like you were lost. Anything I can help you with?" "Er... Possibly," Dwyn replied sheepishly. Erin seemed like such a nice person and the fact that Dwyn had avoided talking to her made her feel guilty. But if Erin could give her the help she needed... "I'm looking for the Owlry actually. Wanted to send a letter to my parents about sending me a pet... They live kinda far away, though, so I'm not sure if it's possible or not..." "Have a little more faith in the owls! They'll get your letter where it needs to go," Erin replied, reaching out once more to grab Dwyn roughly by the wrist, "C'mon! I'll show you where the Owlry is!" With that Erin broke into a run up the left set of stairs, leaving Dwyn to stumble behind her as she attempted to keep her footing. "H-hey! Erin! Let go!" she yelped, but Erin simply shook her head. "We gotta hurry so that we're not late for next class! C'mon, Dwyn! Get those legs moving!" Why me?! Dwyn thought with a whimper. OOC: Who's kid is Erin supposed to be? Does it even matter? ... Either way, yeah, she's kinda psychotic. A nice change from quiet Ginny, scardie-cat Ron, pompous Percy, and Fred/George Btw - you can start the next classes after this if ye like.

Arienne dragged herself out of the History classroom, where she'd spent much of the past hour carefully studying the dusty tomes on the shelf above the blackboard. The only one actually attempting to listen, she'd realised after about ten minutes that Professor Binns was simply repeating the same sentences over and over in increasingly dull and sleep-inducing tones - Arienne quickly filled a few inches of parchment with cramped but neat notes and scanned the books' titles for the rest of the lesson. There were only two that seemed vaguely relevant to her quest, and neither looked particularly interesting...still, it was a start, and Ari grinned as she wandered out of the castle, wanting to catch a glimpse of the giant squid she'd heard about before Transfiguration.
Well, she was meaning to anyway. A glance at the two people she'd have to walk past convinced Ari to turn around, whilst wondering why Vernard wasn't cursing the hell out of the strange wandless girl. Shrugging in disgust, she made her way back to the castle, sending glares out the back of her head towards the three students standing outside.

Ed spun round, and quickly wiped the dirt on his face over the tracks the tear had left. 'Oh. Ryan. You're in my dorm, aren't you?' he said, disappointed at being interrupted with his first real friend. 'We have transfiguration next, with Slytherin. No idea where the classroom is, though.' Flashing a quick grin at Ziarre, he went back into the castle. Catching an older student by the arm with a silent spell, he asked quickly, 'Hey, d'you know where transfiguration is? We're sort of lost.'
The student turned, and grinned. She pointed towards the staircases. 'Take the middle staircase, it'll take you straight there,' she instructed, and tapped the wand in her hand. 'Nice spell, for a first year,' she added, and whisked herself off down the corridor. Ed grinned after her, then raced towards the staircase. By the looks of it, it was about to move. Jumping on, he held out a hand for Ryan to take just as it started to lift itself to the left.
