A tall, thin yet timid girl sat on a small boulder near her home on the side of Mount Mystery. Her long hair fell down her back and around her face as she lent forward to stroke her Absol. She was a quiet girl so much so that a very small number of people acctually knew she existed and out of those none of them ever came to visit her. She was all alone in the world without anyone to talk to except for her absol and two eevees. She had no technology, no pokeballs, no computer...nothing. She spends her days roaming the mountain so she knows every inch of it, even what's at the top, but no one would believe her if she told them so she just keeps it to herself. She has no parents and so is completely independent. She can't remember her parents, who they were or even how they died, if they did, or where they are now. There are so many questions and troubles in her life and yet this girl, who appears to be only 14 years of age, has managed to get passed them and can live her life without worrying about anything in the world.
And now she sits on this rock thinking about the world, gazing up at the peak of the mountain and hoping something will happen.....

Kat crawled up the next few inches of the mountain, knees rubbed raw. She had lost her sandals quite a way down, and now her bare feet were blistering. She groaned as she managed a few more steps, and fell onto a convenient ledge. And looked up.
Seeing the girl on her rock, she slid down a few feet in surprise. Struggling to get a handhold, she clambered up the side of the mountain once more, looking at the girl all the time. Finally summoning up the courage to speak, she managed to mumble: 'Whotheheckareyouandwhatareyoudoinguphere?!'

Cherry Blossom had been aware of the girl's presence all the time becuase of her sharp hearing but did not care to help because no one else had helped her in her life. She sighed deeply and looked around slowly with large mournful eyes and gazed up at the rather rugged looking girl. She then whispered in a smooth and calm, yet deeply depressed voice "Why would you care?" Then she turned around again and gazed back up at the mountain, her cool hair swinging gently against her back.

Kat managed to scramble up the boulder, and sat next to the girl. 'Ok, so I don't care that much. It's just that I didn't realise anyone lived up here. What's your name?' she asked politely, changing from one question to the next with the abruptness that only 10 year olds can manage.
She swung her feet in the breeze, noticing a few drops of blood fall to the steep path. Grabbing her foot, she examined a deep cut that had a stone wedged into it. Tears came into her eyes, and she turned back to Cherry. 'D-do you have a f-f-first aid kit I c-could use? I-i-i-it's just... that... this...' Suddenly, she erupted into tears, massaging her foot.

"Come here" Cherry said impatiently but with a slight caring note in her voice. She then lifted Kat's foot onto her own knee and quickly removed the stone with the least pain possible. She had a very light touch and her long fingers were very nimble in getting the stone out easily. She then put her left hand over the wound, shut her eyes and a pink light emerged from the palm of her hand. She opened her eyes and removed her hand to reveal a completely cured foot. "you should really wear shoes" she said finally before getting up and walking over to her eevees and picking them up, and placing them on her shoulders.

Kat examined her foot cautiously, mouth gaping open. 'H-how did you do that? You some sort of witch or something?' she exclaimed, climbing down from the boulder gingerly and following the girl. 'I still don't know your name. What is it? You have nice eevees, and your absol is so kawaii! Can I pet it? Do they have nicknames? Can we be friends? Please? I don't have any friends.' The questioning continued, from one subject to another, as quickly as one could blink. Kat certainly was an inquisitive child.

"my name is Cherry and that's all you need to know" With that she walked to the side of the mountain and started to climb without any hesitation, her eevees still curled up on her shoulders and her absol following obediently behind her.

Augustus briskly walked up the mountain, his yellow and green clothes were blown onto his body, showing how thin he was. He looked haggard and old, his face looked chiseled and there were flecks of grey in his long hair and beard. An Everstone on a leather string hung around his neck. This is what kept him so active. He believed that the Everstone he found as a 10 year old boy growing up on Mount Mystery had kept him alive and kicking to the ripe old age of 150. Augustus had left his home two years ago, to form Team Element, a crime-fighting team. He had taken with him his beloved Togetic, Ursaring and Donphan, and he returned with them to visit their home. He was one of very few people who knew what was atop Mount Mystery. He didn't even dare tell his advisers, the 4 co-leaders of Team Element, Terence Erupta, Rocky Stone, Ivy Vine and Rogue Zodiac. He caught a glimpse of two figures out of the corner of his eye. He felt the three pokéballs in the pocket of his robe. He turned round quickly and saw two girls. He walked over to them, intrigued at why they were there. "Hallo" he said in a gruff voice, "What are you girls doing here?"

Cherry stayed silent. She found this a very good method if she wanted to avoid contact with people who could cause trouble for her later on. Instead she kept climbing up to the next ledge where she sat with her legs hanging over and her hair blowing in the breeze. Cherry had seen Augustus around but never wanted to talk to him in the fear that he would hang around. This is what she found most irritating about young adventurers trying to find out what was on the top of the mountain. Of course very few of them made it and went home instead. Cherry sat and observed the old man. She was intrigued at how old he was and used this oportunity to study him closely. She caught sight of a stone hanging around his neck and puzzled over it's meaning and what effect it had on the old man. She knew there was something magical about it because she could feel it radiating off but she didn't know what it was....

"It's an Everstone." Augustus told the girl sitting on the ledge, seeing her looking at the stone, "It gives me the power to stay alive. I turned 150 earlier this year, y'know!?" There was something about this girl that reminded Augustus of something. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but it stirred some dormant emotions and thoughts in his mind...

A girl and her Tyrogue sat in silence at the foot of the mountain, preparing themselves for the harsh climb ahead. They didn't need to speak to each other - if they concentrated, their thoughts echoed in each other's minds. But at this particular moment, both minds were clear, calm, controlled.
Finally Holli opened her eyes, glancing at her alert Tyrogue sitting opposite. Ready? she whispered in her head. Are you? her ****y pokemon smirked back. Holli smiled: from anyone else, that comment would have earned at least one of her cold stares; but from her Tyrogue, she'd hate it if he were any different. She looked up at the unwelcoming slope before her and unconsciously sent some extra qi to her legs. Let's go, the two karate-ka thought simultaneously, as they took their first steps up Mystery Mountain.
OOC: Well, the warning system's obviously been fixed...still needs a few tweaks, methinks.

Cherry raised her eyebrows at what Augustus had just said and was just about to reply when she heard footsteps and a small voice at the bottom of the mountain. This was a very busy day on the mountain seeing as there was rarely ever anyone on the mountain at all, apart from her and Augustus. Cherry sat up straight tryiong to pin point exactly where the sounds were coming from. Then she glanced back down at Kat and Augustus who seemed to be unaware of the fact that someone else was on the mountain and could be coming to join their little "group" very shortly.

OOC: hang on, does that mean Cherry’s telepathic? BIC: Holli smiled as a conveniently placed ledge came into sight. She and Tyrogue had made a fair amount of progress: the smaller and lighter Tyrogue would race ahead of Holli to make sure the path was safe; a rather amused and far less reckless Holli would then pull Tyrogue up whenever he slipped and tumbled down the mountainside. Despite these frequent stops, the two had climbed a long way and looked forward to a quiet snack.
Then Holli heard the voices. One male and touching on the arrogant side; another high-pitched and hyper, definitely a small girl; but the last girl’s voice wasn’t quite as clear, as mysterious as the ground she was walking on right now. Momentarily distracted, Holli almost slipped on a few specks of blood, earning herself another smirk from Tyrogue. Alright, alright, no need to rub it in, she countered with a short glare, although whoever’s got this injury may need my ointment or something, Holli’s random thoughts bounced about in her head. It took another disapproving glance from Tyrogue for her to focus again; after a few minutes, trainer and pokemon heaved themselves up onto the ledge.
Holli quickly processed the scene in her mind, matching voice to body. She glanced but briefly at Kat and Augustus, his Everstone pendant of no interest to her; but the strange girl on the ledge above received a much longer stare – not of distrust, but mild curiosity. You going to stay there all day? Tyrogue’s thought pushed to the front of her mind. Remembering at last her manners, Holli smiled at all three people. “Hi, I’m Holli, and this is my Tyrogue. We’ve come to climb to the top of Mount Mystery. Who are you guys and why are you here?” Holli turned to Cherry first, a warm and open expression on her face.

OOC: no just EXCEEDINGLY good hearing BIC: Cherry was not surprised by the arrival of Holli but didn't want to dive straight in and introduce herself so she used her usual technique of staying silent. She busied herseld with dusting off her slightly ripped jeans and her blue summer dress which she wore on top of them. Every so often she sneeked a glance at Augustus though. She's never seen him close up before but had watched him from a distance. There seemed to be something they shared, some supernatural thing that could not be placed. Maybe it was the fact that they were the only people that had lived on the mountain for a significant amount of time. Cherry sat and puzzled over this thought for a while, completely ignoring everyone else, in her own little world....

OOC: Holli wasn't actually saying anything, just thinking it...but oh well. BIC: Holli grew slightly irritated by Cherry's lack of response. She gave a small bun to Tyrogue, then turned to the others and smiled. "Well, the peak's a long way away, so we'd better get going anyway. See ya around," and with that, she walked past Kat, noting with confusion that although the specks of blood led to her, her feet weren't injured at all - positively glowing, in fact. Throwing a final look up and down Cherry and her pokemon, Holli followed her happily munching Tyrogue up the winding mountain trail.

"you'll never make it" Cherry said quietly after Holli. She then surned back to inspecting her fingernails, looking down at her dangling feet.

Tyrogue stopped suddenly, snarling under his breath, making Holli almost crash into him. He was less accustomed to comments like these, whereas Holli had already been lectured about this topic. Just ignore her, Holli thought, more to herself than to Tyrogue. Determined not to lose her temper, she carried on climbing, sending not a word or glance behind her. She could still feel Cherry's unspoken challenge in the air. Just watch me, she thought.

"i was just saying that it's terribly hard to get to the top so you shouldn't get your hopes up" Cherry said quietly. Then she sighed and shivered slightly as the wind blew her hair and the two slashed made in the back of her dress. Cherry looked back at her feet and thought: well i may aswell introduce myself. he has a right to know who i am seeing as i've been watching him for so long. Finally She said "my name is Cherry." and slid back down the slope and curtseyed to Augustus. This is what she thought people did when they met. Little did she know that times had changed and that shaking hands was now custom.

Augustus had held out his hand to Cherry, but when she curtsied, he bowed to her. "I'm Augustus Sensei!"

"a pleasure to meet you" said Cherry in a very small voice but stopped abruptly before she said at last. Then she turned to Kat and curtsied to her, just to be polite.

"finally?" Cherry questioned turning back to Augustus and looking extremely puzzled. She hadn't realised that Augustus had known of her existance until now. she was curious as to how he knew her and how much he knew. Then she though with utter horror What if he knows?. Her eyes widened as she realised this and stared at Augustus with fear in her eyes.

"Yeah, I've seen you lurking around here. I grew up here aswell, I never miss much that happens on Mount Mystery, and I know every inch of it off by heart. Do you think I could've missed someone else living here? And I also know that you've seen what's up there, and how it gave you your power..." his voice trailed off as he waited for what she would say next.

Cherry stood rooted to the ground. she couldn't believe he knew all that about her but at least he didn't know her true secret. one day she would reveal it to him but at teh moment Kat was here and she seemed like one to have a rather large mouth and she would probably spread it around. Butterflies rose in her stomache but Cherry only though it polite to say something back and reveal that she knew most things about him. eventually she admitted "i've seen you around too. i've watched you quite a lot recently. it's nice to know there's someone else who knows about you and how you feel, living on the mountain" all through this Cherry had been looking at her feet but now she looked up into Augustus's eyes as tears stung them. Cherry was sensetive esspecially with poeple who she had never really understood properly and now this began to really show.

Kat looked at the two people who had joined them, and was curious as to why the girl, Cherry, had... had curtsied. She thought that they only did that in olden times! Then, hearing what Augustus Sensei had said... 'Powers? Like the pink-glowy thingy you used on my foot?' She suddenly shied away, losing all eagerness. 'What other powers do you have?' she asked nervously, but sounding slightly bolder than she felt. The altitude might have ben getting to her; suddenly she felt quite dizzy. 'D'you have somewhere I can sit down without cutting myself on sharp rock? Like a cushion or something?' she asked, steadying herself on a nearby rock. She'd only felt like this once before: when she had visited Waterside Town with her mother. She had only been four, and they had been delivering some equipment to the Psychic Research Labs. As soon as she had come through the door, she had collapsed, and didn't remeber a thing until a feeling of dizzyness overcame her sleep. Gazing down at her had been this girl, about 8 years old, looking very grumpy. 'She's awake,' she dimly remembered hearing, and then the dizzyness was too overwhelming to recall anything more.
