Holli had also heard Augustus' footsteps and her Tyrogue's soft cry. Breathing a sigh of relief, she glared back at Cherry and said, "Fine, don't tell me anything about yourself - I'm not sure I even wanna know. But you owe me an explanation about the top of this mountain," she said a little crossly.

Cherry stared mournfully up at the mountain top and thought deeply about her past. She had such fond memories of growing up there in her younger years but now a dark cloud seemed to permanently hang over it in her mind. Many nights she dreamed about happiness, not her mind was only filled with depression and fear for more people finding out about her many secrets and her muddy past. Cherry looked slowly back down from the mountain, into Holli's eyes and then at her fingers which were drawing patterns in the dust. "What do you want to know?" she said with yet another deep sigh and a woeful look back into Holli's deep brown eyes.

Holli took a deep breath, preparing to launch into some sort of tirade - but she didn't know what to say. Here she was, able to ask just about anything and hopefully get some answers at last, but being tongue-tied already...She stared back into Cherry's gaze and finally spoke. "Why didn't you want me to get to the top? I only wanted...needed...to find my parents," she said, emotion tinging the edge of her voice.

"It wasn't me who wanted to stop you from getting to the top. I'm an outcast, why would i care? It's the villagers." Cherry said with a shudder, once again visualising their faces, without emotion, nothing as if she was only a posession, not someone with feelings. "They take in anyone who tries to get into the villageso they'll be after you too. Maybe that's where you're parents went." Cherry spoke with little emotion in her voice but a lot behind it, undetectable but all there.

Kat lay beside the two, listening to their conversation. What was up there? Could she go up there without getting caught? And most important of all... Did it have anything to do with how Cherry's powers affected her? But all she could do know was lie, think and listen. Maybe Holli would ask some of the questions she wanted answered, but did anyone know the answer to the question that had been bugging her ever since the first waves of dizziness hit her as a young child?
Suddenly she felt the dizziness twang back. She could feel herself slipping out of consciousness again, but this time it was more... There was something else... A voice. The conversation slipped out of her range of hearing as she shut her eyes, and listened.
Kat... The young girl sat up. She could see a woman standing a few feet away, but couldn't make out her features. She got onto her feet shakily, but immediately fell over.
Who... Who are you? she muttered, looking up at the strange woman.
It doesn't matter. But you must go to the village. Your father is there. He is waiting for you. Go. And suddenly, everything came back. Again Kat felt the dizziness, and saw her surroundings, and could hear the conversation. She screamed as the dizziness gave way to sheer pain.

"So you think my parents are alive?" A glimmer of hope rose in Holli's mind, but she already knew in her heart that they'd been long dead..."Never mind. But hang on..." She went over what Cherry had just said. "If they're after me - the villagers, who must have seen my parents - then why didn't they just let me in? Why did they block my entrance? And he...he was there! I saw him! If he betrayed my parents, wouldn't he want me as well? Wouldn't he want to see me suffer first? Why..." Now fully aware that she was rambling, Holli stopped and cleared her thoughts. "You obviously have special powers - not that I'll tell, mind," she tried to reassure Cherry, misinterpreting the slight change in her voice. "So I'm guessing the villagers do too? Hang on...You're an outcast? What did you d-" Kat's scream pierced the calm mountain air, and Holli rushed back to her side. "What happened to her?" she asked to no-one in particular. Earlier, she would have turned straight on Cherry, but she figured the strange powerful girl was trustworthy enough - just.

Cherry did not want to risk yet more magic on Kat, esspecially in front of Holli, so instead she knelt back down beside Kat and shook her violently. In her mind she decided that magic was a last resort now. She carried on shaking until there was some sort or a response from Kat that she was aware of her surroundings. When Kat stoped screaming, as a result of teh shaking, Cherry quietly and smoothly asked her "what did you see? If you tell me i can help you."
OOC: sorry for the slight autoing but rachy said it was alright

OOC: I did indeed. Just to confirm BIC: As she had stopped screaming, Kat opened her eyes abruptly and grabbed her head. It hurt like she didn't know what, and the woman... She heard Cherry's voice as if it came from far away, but she tried to respond. The voice that emerged sounded wounded, distant and disembodied; only vaguely like her own. 'Ch-Cherry...' she said faintly, not recognising herself as she spoke. 'There... there was a woman. She told me... to go to the village... my father...' she couldn't say any more, as her throat was burning up. She clutched her hair as the pain increased slightly, and she was trying extremely hard not to scream again.

Holli narrowed her eyes at the mention of the village, then let it pass. Looks like just about everything around here's connected to the top of that mountain, she thought a little bitterly. She reached into her rucksack and took out a couple of flasks, then went over to Kat. "Here, these should ease the pain - the physical pain in any case," she said as she offered them to the little girl.

Grasping them gladly, yet weakly, Kat smiled at Holli before gulping down huge amounts of the cool fluid. Choking slightly, she sighed as the pain eased slightly. 'Thank you,' she muttered in relief. But what now? She felt like lying here all day, but a cold mountain was hardly the best place for a ten year old to rest. 'Cherry, do you have a house up here?' Kat asked politely, still quiet.

"A house, no. A cave, yes. It's not much but... if you really want somewhere better that's got to be it. There we'll be safe from on lookers and we can talk about how to keep you from getting caught." She shot a rather nasty look at Holli as she spoke in a disgusted manner. "That is if you don't want to be caught." and with that grabbed Kat's hand and pulled her to her feet quite abruptly.

Kat smiled gratefully and nodded. 'Please,' she muttered, and rested her head on the mountainside again. 'But I might need help getting up,' she admitted feabily, the smile vanishing.

Cherry took a few steps away from the group and clicked her fingers. A puff of red smoke appeared and so did her wings. She stretched her arms into the air as her wings fluttered and also appeared to be stretching. When she lowered ehr arms her wings began to beat quicker now until they were only a blur and her feet a few inches off the floor. She sweeped down and picked up Kat like lightening before flying gently upwards to the next ledge where she hovered and felt the breaze hit her face again. "Are you coming?" she said with raised eyebrows and a patronising voice shot only at Holli.

Holli glared back and grabbed her rucksack from the ground. At the moment, she was too annoyed with the whole situation to notice anything strange about wings sprouting from Cherry's back, only registering that the faerie girl was seriously showing off. "I'll see you soon, Kat - I need to find out if my Tyrogue is OK," she said as she walked off up the mountain path, ignoring Cherry's stares.

"And how are you supposed to see Kat soon unless you follow?" Cherry said in a falsly caring sort of way. She fluttered up to where Holli was and hovered in front of her "Do you really want to be caught by these people?"she asked flatly and sarcastically "Because your going the right way about it."

Kat went limp in Cherry's arms, trying not to be too mush of a burden. The sound of the beating wings soothed her slightly, and a thin trail of red light seemed to blur after her if she moved. The places on her feet Cherry had healed also glowed slightly red, but all of this Kat was unaware of. She smiled, sighed and closed her eyes in exhaustion. She had to sleep sometime.

"Well maybe I do, OK?!" Holli shouted back. "Maybe I want to see my parents for the first time in 13 years?! Maybe I want to find out if they're actually alive?! Maybe I want to know why the **** they went up here, to this godforsaken mountain, with that bastard of a tour guide - and for what? To die?!" Holli was in a rage now, too angry to cry. "They left me, and I've missed them so goddam much, 'cos no-one's ever loved me or even accepted me like they did!" A single tear dropped onto the parched ground. Holli took a deep breath, and stepped on the tiny dark spot. "But you wouldn't know anything about family though, would you faerie," she muttered in a low voice as her heart seemed to clench inside her.

"no i wouldn't" said Cherry, completely calm although her insides were twisting with having to face her past and explain it to this little girl. She had never felt pain like Cherry. She did not know what the word even meant. "Because i never had any. If you must know i was never accepted by those - those monsters at the top of the mountain. They threw me out. They did nothing for me. I have no friends, no family and no one to turn to. At least you had people around you your whole life. You had an upbringing. You had love. I only had fake love. They hated me, envied me for my power. If you want to be subject to that then go ahead, find your parents but they won't be what you thought they were. They will have changed. They'll have powers. They'll be self-obsessed like everyone else who's seen that thing. If you want to be just like that go that way. If you want some help then get some manners and follow me. Your choice but i refuse to take any blame for your decisions."

"HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MY PARENTS?" Holli yelled at Cherry, hot streams flowing freely down her cheeks. She abruptly turned away, not bothering to stop the tears, slowly going over what the faerie had just said. "Seen what thing?" she suddenly asked, in a strangely calm tone.

Cherry raised her eyebrows. "why the thing that gives them their powers but you'll find out about that soon enough." She nodded her head to a small group of people coming down the mountain. They were dressed all in black. "so what is it to be? I can hold them off and you can come with me or do you want to be turned into a machine like them?"

Holli took one glance at the advancing group and nodded to Cherry. "Let's go," she said quietly. "Besides, black really isn't my colour."

A small smile fluttered across Cherry's face as she shot out her hand to wards the incoming villagers. A huge wall of fire surrounded them and as they scrambled hysterically to get away from it Cherry moved her hand over to to wards Holli and let a green cloud lift her up and make her follow Cherry to the other side of the mountain. As they approached the rock and ledge where they had all met Cherry landed and let the cloud disappear, making Holli fall to the ground. "Follow me" she said entering a small cave. Inside it was pitch black and as the light from outside faded away it became more and more apparent that there was a small amount of light coming from Cherry herself. Further and further they walked into the cave until an almost blinding light hit them. Hundreds and hundreds of candles surrounded a small room in which a straw and what looked like pine needle floor felt soft on Cherry's feet. She lay down Kat in a corner where more straw and leaves were bundled up to make a rather crude bed. She sat, cross legged on the floor and waited, stony faced, for Holli to react.

Kat shook herself awake, and stretched her arms. The red light was still coming off her as she moved, but it was very faint. She yawned, licked her cracked lips and sat up. Wiping her eyes free of sleep, she looked at the two girls. 'What's going on guys?' she asked groggily, smiling vaguely.

Holli looked around blankly. "Well, the candles are cool," she said at last. She went over to Kat and sat by her, not quite knowing how to answer her question seeing as she wasn't sure exactly what was going on herself.

"Those were some villagers out looking for you" said cherry nonchalently. "We're safe here. They're afraid of me." she added looking solemn and down at her dusty feet.
